The Beaches Guadeloupe

Among the most beautiful of the West Indies, Guadeloupe has about fifty rather different beaches. For information there are 180 sand colors on the island including the sands of the rivers. You will be able to find starfishes on the beaches, white sea urchins, the only ones that are edible here, many shells like lambis, helmets or Tritons which are the greatest species.

With only a mask and a snorkle you will be able to explore the coral reefs present on most of the beaches and often in a not very deep but always hot and limpid water. With a little chance you will see a lobster which is forbidden to catch with a speargun or with bottles, or even a tortoise, protected species. Don't forget that the alive coral harvest is prohibited.
The water of Guadeloupe does not have any dangerous inhabitant, it is necessary however to avoid the orange fire coral  which causes burns, the spines of the black sea urchins (nonedible), the rare jellyfishes, murene and barracuda.
A good solar protection is essential, especially on the not very shaded beaches. For the adepts of naturism, the two authorized beaches are Anse Tarare close to the Pointe des Chateaux and the Pointe du Petit Bas Vent in the north of Basse Terre.

Caribbean Beach

Located between Pointe-Noire and Mahaut, it is a beautiful sandy beach, near a carpark and not too near from the road. It offers few shady places... but has some shelters with tables and benches for the picnic.

Plage de la Caravelle

Splendid white sandy beach, located close to Sainte-Anne It is on the site of the Club Mediterranee (photo 1 opposite).

Beach of Malendure

A volcanic sandy beach of dark color. Anthracite when it is dry, its color becomes black once in contact with water.
Lots of Lolos and other huts denature the beach. It is the starting point for the activities taking place around
îlets Pigeon

Beach of Clugny

It is a beautiful clear sandy beach. It is not as busy as the beach of Deshaies, because the rollers make the bathe relatively dangerous and it is separated from the road only by a narrow carpark.
