Bouillante commune de Guadeloupe

Bouillante was famous for its cultures of vanilla plants and coffee-trees. The beaches of this commune, Malendure and Pigeon, are universally known for the richness of their sea-bed. The proximity of  Pigeon islets and the discovery of their beautiful and fragile natural environment makes it one of the most attended sites of the island (diving, glass bottom boat visit and fishing, Réserve COUSTEAU). It is in Pigeon that was built the first church of the parish, which is the beginning the borough of Bouillante, founded in 1636 by the first colonists of the Company of the Islands. Its name comes from the sources of hot water that spring out here and show the volcanic activity of the island. The geothermic factory contributes in a considerable way to reduce the energy dependence of the island. While going towards Vieux Habitants, visit the pretty shaded and well protected beach of Petite Anse. On the road to Vieux Habitants, l'Anse à la Barque and its two headlights constitutes one of the surest moorings of the island.
