Deshaies, village perched in the north of the Basse Terre, has lots of tourist resources. The road bordering the Caribbean Sea makes it possible to discover the coastal area from splendid points of view. The commune's name comes from the quiet pond " des Hayes " which was used as a mooring by the corsairs. Since the beginning of colonization, batteries and fortifications were built there and you can still see parts of it at Deshaies point.
