Goyave holds its name of the numerous Guava berry trees that grow along the main river. In the heights, several traces lead the hikers towards superb sites like the Moreau river, or the jump of the Bras du Fort river . Former mayor of Goyave, the grand father of the famous poet Francis Jammes is buried in the Champ d'Asile, a small property which belonged to him. Further, the small quiet beach of Sainte Claire.
