In this commune of the Grande-Terre, the sugar cane is still very present; in the west the Mangrove, space marshy place where the mangroves, inside dominate mangroves and mancenilliers, country pear trees, galbas and red gommiers.
The borough of Port-Louis has kept the guadeloupean villages style of before. The restored church is dedicated to Notre Dame de Bon Secours. The cemetery with its sand tombs, surrounded by conches of lambis or a edge of zic, is one of the most original of the Grande Terre. The site of the anse du Souffleur, where it is situated, offers a splendid sight on the Basse-Terre. The town hall is neo-classic. The central factory of Beauport now unused, kept some vestiges of its past activity
