ENTRANCE FORMALITIES

For the French citizens
The national indentity card or the passport.


For the citizens of the E.E.C
Passport without visa, used as official indentity card or valid French residence permit.

For the foreign countries inhabitants out of E.E.C
Valid passport.

For the natives of the USA, Canada, and Japan
For a stay of less than 3 months, an identity paper with a photograph.
A free visa for regularization will be delivered to them at the entrance.
This visa is valid only for the duration of the stay and the only oversea department where it is delivered.

CURRENCY
Euro. The American dollar is accepted as well as the travellers' cheques and the credit cards. In some establishments, the cheques are not accepted if your address is not in Guadeloupe (chèque hors place).

WATER AND ELECTRICITY
The running water is drinkable everywhere. Mineral water is also proposed to the consumers. The electrical current is 220 volts.

VACCINES
No obligatory vaccine to go to Guadeloupe, Martinique. 
However for the people arriving from South America and some of the Caribbean islands, an international certificate against variola and the yellow fever can be required.

PLANTS
When you travel by plane, it is strictly forbidden to transport plants. These provisions are taken to protect some particularly significant species. For example the banana in the West Indies would not resist certain forms of cercosporiose. Thus, avoid taking along with you your vegetable garden. It would not pass the Customs.

ANIMALS
The entrance of domestic animals in the DOM, requires some conditions: the animal must be tattooed, have a health record with its up to date vaccinations and an anti-rabic certificate established at least 30 days before the travel but not more than one year earlier. It is prohibited  to import animals except if this animal has resided in an approved country (Australia....) for one month if he was living just before in Metropolitan France for 6 months.
